Dr. Lam Cheng grew up in Brisbane and earned her Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours Class I from the University of Queensland. She gained experience working in both the public and private sectors in Brisbane and the Gold Coast before pursuing her first research degree, a Bachelor of Dental Studies, also from the University of Queensland. Her research focused on caries susceptibility in patients with cleft lip and palate undergoing orthodontic treatment, sparking her passion for orthodontics. This led her to further her expertise with postgraduate training in Orthodontics at the University of Sydney, where she graduated with a Master of Dental Science (Orthodontics) with Honours.

Dr. Cheng is a proud member of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Orthodontics). Her academic journey didn’t stop there—after years of serving in both public and private orthodontic practice, she embarked on a PhD focused on the use of mechanical stimulation with functional orthopaedic appliances.

With a deep passion for education, Dr. Cheng is dedicated to shaping the next generation of orthodontists. She served as a lecturer at the University of Sydney, primarily teaching in the postgraduate orthodontic program and guiding research. Her love for teaching is fueled by her desire to share her extensive knowledge and practical skills, especially in helping students navigate complex cases and research challenges.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Cheng is a proud mother of two. In her free time, she enjoys creating crafts, playing board games, and baking with her children.
